JOB TITLE: President & Chief Executive Officer

Fort Wayne Public Television, Inc. is seeking a strong leader and experienced manager to serve as its President & CEO.  WFWA-TV, PBS 39, a community licensee, is Northeast Indiana's PBS station serving 12 counties and a population of 676,000.  The President & CEO reports to the Fort Wayne Public Television Inc. Board of Directors.  Fort Wayne, Indiana's second largest city, is home to eight colleges and universities, a significant center for medical research and innovation, the headquarters for a number of worldwide companies, and numerous vibrant cultural organizations with a cadre of committed civic volunteer leaders.

Major areas of responsibility include managing station financial and personnel resources, strategic planning and implementation of annual goals, overseeing daily operations, developing collaborations and partnerships within WFWA's community of service, meeting organizational revenue goals, working with and effectively utilizing the  Board of Directors, and implementing strategies to enable WFWA to better serve its community.  WFWA operates with a full time staff of 20, a part time staff of 12, and an operating budget of $3.4 million. 

The ideal candidate should have a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant academic discipline, with an advanced degree preferred; ten years experience in television or public media; five years experience at the senior management level; experience with strategic and financial planning, fundraising, and board and governmental relations; effective entrepreneurial and interpersonal skills; excellent written and oral communication skills; a commitment to EEO; strong leadership and integrity; personnel management skills and an understanding of new technologies. The successful candidate should be skilled in team building, have a collaborative management style, and be committed to the mission of public broadcasting.

JOB TITLE: Full-Time Sales/Marketing Executive

DEPARTMENT: Marketing/Sales

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Marketing Executive is responsible for a variety of sales/marketing and administrative functions as related to increasing station revenue through sales-related activities. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to: securing underwriting revenue for the PBS39 general program schedule, local productions, special event underwriting, and pledge drive phone banks as well as selling outside production services. Further responsibilities include providing detailed record keeping and contract tracking, writing FCC-acceptable scripts, assist with securing payment of outstanding contracts, assist with planning, design and implementation of special revenue-generating projects, and assist with income-generating projects as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
As a liaison for the station, the successful candidate must have successful one-to-one sales experience – knowledge of not-for-profit fundraising is preferred, but not required. Additionally, the Marketing Executive must be financially-result oriented; innovative and self-motivated; have personal leadership and team participation qualities; a strong client service outlook; and the ability to represent PBS39 with the highest degree of professionalism. Other requirements for this position include: trustworthiness, good organization and follow-up skills including attention to details; the ability to work with a minimum of direct supervision; and the ability to coordinate multiple activities simultaneously in an accurate and timely manner. The ability to read, write, and speak English clearly with polished and persuasive verbal and written communication skills, including good telephone etiquette; the ability to interface effectively and harmoniously with a diverse public and peer population; PC experience in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications, and a valid driver’s license and good driving record are also necessary for this position.

WORK SCHEDULE:
This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Normal business hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Some evening and weekend hours may be required.

JOB TITLE: Part-time Production Associate

DEPARTMENT: Production

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Production Associates are responsible for a variety of duties including: assisting Producer/Directors in field & studio production, including floor management, operation of field/studio audio, field/studio camera, field/studio light, and character generator equipment. Additional duties may include some studio set-up & misc. grip work.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Must be familiar with all basic areas of video/broadcast production. A degree in a related field is a plus. Must be able to interact professionally with the public, superiors and peers & able to follow directions. The ability to lift 60 lbs and sit or stand for extended periods of time are essential functions of this position.

WORK SCHEDULE:
This is a part-time, non-exempt position. Hours will vary & some evening and weekend hours will be expected as dictated by pledge, auction and live program scheduling.

JOB TITLE: Fill-in Master Control Operator

DEPARTMENT: Master Control

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The primary duties of the Master Control Operator are to monitor transmitter operation and performance in accordance with station procedures manual and FCC requirements; perform on-air program switching within master control and overall on-air supervision of automated master control system; monitor all broadcasts for appropriate audio levels and visual clarity, make adjustments as required, and/or advise supervisor of deviations. Other required responsibilities include: maintaining station broadcast operations through variations in scheduling and technical difficulties; noting deviations or technical difficulties during scheduled programming and satellite feeds; assisting with Louth system management, importing and exporting elements such as promotional spots, underwriter credits, station identification and public service announcements, with proficiency; record programs from satellite feeds and make dubs of pre-existing programs as requested by the production and programming department. Additional duties include some on-line editing; retrieval and replacement of tapes as needed; assisting production crew for local productions as needed; producing station ID/Line-ups; and performing other duties as requested.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
The successful candidate must have hands-on work experience in a broadcast or cable setting; some exposure to personal computers, preferably with a Windows operating system; a pleasant personality, neat appearance, and the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with the public and peers with solid spelling/grammar/punctuation. Additionally, punctuality and dependability are essential to this position. Must also be a team player; willing to work holidays as necessary; and able to sit for long periods of time, while remaining focused and able to respond quickly to broadcast-related situations as they occur; The ability to lift 30 lbs. is also an essential function of this position.

WORK SCHEDULE:
This is a part-time, non-exempt position. The ability to work evening and weekend hours is required.
